Lean IT ist eine Denkweise und Handlungsweise, bei der Lean-Prinzipien auf IT-Service-Management-Praktiken angewendet werden. Die zentrale Prämisse ist die Wertschöpfung für Kunden, wobei die Mitarbeiter diejenigen sind, die täglich den Wert liefern und Hindernisse sowie Lösungen identifizieren. Führungskräfte sorgen dafür, dass Mitarbeiter in ihrem Bestreben, Kundenwert zu liefern, unterstützt und ermutigt werden.

Im Wesentlichen geht es bei Lean IT darum, eine kunden- und wertorientierte Kultur aufzubauen, in der Führungskräfte und Mitarbeiter gemeinsam daran arbeiten, Verschwendung, Inflexibilität und Variabilität aus der Organisation und ihren Dienstleistungen zu eliminieren. Der Fokus liegt nicht auf den technischen Aspekten der IT.

Lean IT é uma forma de pensar e agir, e aplicar os princípios Lean às práticas de gerenciamento de serviços de TI. Sua premissa central é a entrega de valor aos clientes, onde os funcionários são aqueles que realmente entregam o valor no dia a dia e identificam obstáculos e soluções. Os gerentes garantem que os funcionários sejam facilitados e encorajados em sua busca por entregar valor ao cliente.

Essencialmente, Lean IT é sobre construir uma cultura orientada ao cliente e ao valor, na qual gerentes e funcionários se envolvem na remoção de desperdício, inflexibilidade e variabilidade da organização e seus serviços. Não é focado nos aspectos técnicos da TI.

Lean IT is a way of thinking and acting, and applying Lean principles to IT service management practices. Its central premise is the delivery of value to customers, whereby the employees are the ones actually delivering the value on a daily basis and identifying roadblocks and solutions. Managers ensure that employees are facilitated and encouraged in their quest to deliver customer value.

Essentially, Lean IT is about building a customer and value-oriented culture in which managers and employees engage in removing waste, inflexibility and variability from the organization and its services. It is not focussed on technical aspects of IT.
