Managing Portfolios is intended for portfolio directors, portfolio managers and portfolio management office staff, including portfolio analysts. It should also be of interest to:

• Senior managers and executives who have a role in setting strategic objectives and participating in portfolio governance boards or committees.
• Strategic planners who have an interest in ensuring that the portfolio makes the optimum contribution to strategic objectives, and that the strategic objectives take into account the lessons learned from strategy execution.
• Initiative sponsors who are accountable for project and programme outputs, outcomes and benefits realization so that they understand the wider portfolio context within which projects and programmes deliver and how their outputs, outcomes and benefits contribute to strategic objectives.

• Project and programme managers and staff so that they understand the role they play in optimizing strategic contribution via successful delivery.
• Assurance advisers and capability assessors so that they are best placed to provide sound advice and guidance on the operation and development of portfolio management.

• Trainers and consultants who advise client organizations on implementing, tailoring and sustaining portfolio management as a means of successfully executing strategy.

OpenSM is a simple framework for adopting and adapting service management into an organization. The OpenSM framework introduces candidates to the management of modern IT-enabled services, taking into account new methodologies and technological advances, and integrates the concept of sustainability. It includes common terminology and key concepts and demonstrates how to adopt and improve service management within your organization.

There is no supporting textbook or publication for OpenSM. Candidates must attend an accredited training course and will be provided with all the relevant materials during the course.

The OpenSM Foundation exam is only available in Italian.

OpenSM Foundation courses are generally delivered over 2 days. However, it is well worth investigating with individual training providers, as some will offer tailored, online or blended learning solutions.
