De Climate-Resilient Infrastructure Officer Certificering verwijst naar klimaatbestendige infrastructuur op twee manieren: (1) veerkrachtige infrastructuur (of veerkracht van infrastructuur), wat infrastructuur is die anticipeert op, zich voorbereidt op en zich aanpast aan klimaatverandering; en (2) infrastructuur voor veerkracht (of veerkracht door infrastructuur), wat infrastructuur is die de veerkracht van een gemeenschap vergroot door de gevolgen van klimaatgevaren te verminderen of het aanpassingsvermogen te vergroten.
